Residential Renovation in Mittagong

Our client purchased this four bedroom 1980’s home in Mittagong that was in a very poor state but had good bones and structural integrity, with large, light filled rooms and high ceilings. A complete refurbishment was required inside and out starting with removal of the majority of floor and wall linings and totally gutting the kitchen and bathroom. We took the opportunity to install insulation while the frame was exposed, before installing the new gyprock. The main bathroom and laundry were reconfigured to a more contemporary layout, and a media room was defined using part of the overly large formal living area. Having created this fresh canvas for our clients to style, we were able to assist them with their colour selections, finishes, lighting and appliances. Our experienced team of tradies then got on with the fit-out, bringing back to life the ultimate Southern Highlands family home.

We replaced damaged windows with new, taking the opportunity to change the size and shape of some. Where windows were altered, new brickwork on the outside now blends in with the existing seamlessly. A new bi-fold door was installed to create a second indoor/outdoor living space.

We focused on the home’s energy efficiency and used materials and construction methods to increase its thermal performance at every opportunity. We added higher rated insulation in the walls and ceiling, air sealed around windows, and removed gas heating appliances.

The exterior refurbishment included a much needed clean of the brickwork, tiling of multiple decks, installation of a new timber balustrade on the front veranda and painting of all timber elements.

The tiled roof was sound but needed maintenance. We recommended renovating the roof by replacing cracked/broken tiles, re-pointing capping tiles, and carrying out work on the guttering. The roof restoration was completed by painting it a lighter colour to lift its presence in the street. This will have the benefit of making the home cooler in summer.

The new owners are loving their virtually new, spacious and contemporary home.
